ENGINEERING WORK

ENGINEERING WORK9th May 2024

It has been noticed that the wallower gear wheel is slightly slack on the main wooden shaft of mill. As you would expect that after at least 180 years of use there is some wear on the gear teeth.

We have received a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which will allow us to repair the wallower and correct some of the abnormal wear on the teeth.

This work will start on the 17th June 2024. Hopefully this work will be complete in three weeks.

Obviously this work will mean that the mill will not be able to work. So Karen will be busy over the next four weeks not only milling the flour we need each week but also sufficient stock to keep us going for at least four weeks in case of any problems.

The bakery will continue to operate during this period and we will be continuing to attend all the markets and a full range of our products will be available.

Unfortunately we will not be able do mill tours during this period.
